Sometimes it is easy to forget all the amazing FREE things there are to do in Jersey! So here is a quick list we’ve put together to help you remember or discover the beautiful places and fun adventures Jersey has to offer!
The Beaches – it might seem obvious, but yes, Jersey has an abundance of stunning beaches to visit. Whether you want to soak in the sunshine, rock pool in the rain, splash in the waves, explore the natural habitats, slide down sand banks, or just go for a gentle walk, there is something for everyone!
Our favourite? L’etacq for rock pooling! We’ve found crabs, anemones, sea slugs, snails, shrimps, fish and even star fish here!
The Parks – there are some beautiful parks and awesome playgrounds in Jersey. Our favourites are the beach park adjacent to Long Beach, in Gorey, the Elephant Park in St Brelade is great for all ages. For full on fun, outdoor swimming, and beautiful gardens head to Millbrook (Coronation Park).
The Woods – Most people know St Catherine’s Woods, for good reason – it is a wonderful place to walk, but there are some other fabulous woodlands in Jersey that are well worth a wander… The Forgotten Forest Arboretum on the border of St Ouen and St Peter is full of wildlife. Egypt Woods in Trinity, and the small woodlands, La Mielle de Morville, on the edge of Les Mielles Nature Reserve are great for small children.
The Sand Dunes – located opposite St Ouen’s bay, this natural playground is great fun for all the family. Run and slide on the dunes, hike up the hills, do some bird watching, or spot snails and look out for Green Lizards. There is nearly always an ice cream van close by too!
Geo Caching – If you haven’t heard of Geo-Caching it is a real-time, real-world treasure hunt! You use a GPS enabled device, such as a smart phone to navigate the outdoor trails and find the “treasure” that has been left by another participant, and then leave your own treasures for someone else to find! It is a great way to explore the island, combining the outdoors and technology!
It is easy to forget all the wonderful places to explore there are in Jersey, especially after the cold winter and rainy spring, but it really is a magical island! Share this and get outside this summer! Have fun!
